Just came back from Babylon A. D.

Anyone else?  Anyone read the book, Babylon Babies?  Cause I seriously need to see the point of this flick.

The effects are sweet, if harsh.  The future depicted very stark.  The action was fast, to the point where I was feeling that hey, the choreographers found the best way to hide blunders by making things too fast.  And the movie was pretty coherent.

But...where's the point?  The religious build was evident from way early, and in that light one can pretty much think of a couple points.  But the cut off ending just doesn't work for me.  I felt the same at the end of the second Riddick.

Man.  Shoulda went to watch Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

I heard the other day that there is likely to be a Riddick 3 & 4. I'm hoping they ditch the stuff from the 2nd and just go for the gritty, low-budget feel of Pitch Black. Best Aliens clone ever.

Personally, I rather like the Riddick character. It will be good to see more, as long as things are well done to the first.

I was excited for this, but the director has already disavowed it, saying the studio messed with it. The studio apparently hates it too. Hard to work up a head of steam over it now. Even with the yummieness that is Vin.

Yea. Something must have been done like that. I was very happy with it until the last scene. Then they just ended it with the cut-off-the-movie-without-much-explaination last scene, and left it up to the viewers to jump to whatever conclusions they would from it. I can see a couple possible points to all of it, all religious such as the base of the movie, but it was way too vague. It was just -- a cut off.

Very disappointing. Not a solid way to end a good movie, which much of it was.

We were disappointed in how the movie ended as well. They could have ended it before the hospital scene, in my opinion. And the editing was very choppy. Not many people go to a Vin movie to watch him dress in white and be nice, they want to watch him kill things and blow stuff up! Should have waited for it to come to DVD, and then save money renting it.

Apaprently even the director dissed it. By an interview I read from him, there were too many fingers in the pie, and his message of the future hinging on the education of the children, was lost.

I'd say so. I definitely didn't get that message from it.

Where was the interview you read? Was it a magazine or an online venue of some sort?
