Received a few crits on my last WIP -- and have sliced over 800 words from it, which included a complete PoV.

Also received an odd reject moment.  Received two notes about the same story from two publishers.  How interesting it was to get that!  First, my submission to Shroud Magazine generated a "we're swamped, so it'll be a bit longer" message.  I was happy to see that...here is a place that actually contacts the author when it reaches the top end of the response time quoted, instead of letting you sit for a year or so dwellling on it.  That's nice.  I can like that kind of responsibility.  However, same story, rejected by A&A  (so I thought) just got a SECOND rejection from A&A.  It was held for a second round (didn't know A&A did 2nd round consideration).  In a way that made me feel good too -- I took it to mean that the level of my writing gets serious consideration now.  This I've been fighting to develope for years, and it's nice to see that I can finally think that of my work.

I got one of those second rejects from A&A once several years ago. There'd been a recent change or something, and the editors wanted to make sure my story had been fully considered before rejection, so they let me know that it had and still didn't quite make the cut. Certainly shows they thought the story needed a second look.

I'm doing the same thing, cutting. And I also have a story with A&A.

Happy cutting, and good luck with the other stories.
