I made the deadline. Maybe.
I completed the rough in time, turned it out at about 2800 words. It is now around 3100 and will probably need about 500+ more to make it work.
So, dunno if I made the deadline. Sucks.
From the feedback I received from my group, I realize that this story is a larger project than I initially thought it'd be. I went into it seeking to write out a snapshot of a place, and ended with a somewhat unrealistic portrayal of a person facing imminent death, and not getting changed enough by it.
This leads to my question of the day -- when facing complete realization that one is about to die, and then finds him/herself alive, how would that person be changed?
Can something like that even have an answer?
Will.

The deadline is 10-31. Should be able to edit it to a more acceptable level by then...
Will.
