Reading.

I'm a fast reader.  Haven't taken any speed reading classes or anything like that, just been reading since I was 8.  I can take in a Harry Potter sized book in about 3-4 hours, or 3 or 4 average novels in a day.  And I am a collector --

I have well over 5000 paperbacks in storage.  I have read all of them, many of them numerous times.  However, that stopped around 1990.  Doesn't mean I've forgotten them though.  And I am partial to series--

Richard Blade.  Gor.  Horseclans. Tarzan. Doc Savage.  Warlock.  Darkover.  Pern.  Dune.  Dorsai!.  Ender.  Necroscope.  Amber.  Corum.  Narnia.  Casca.  Midkemia.  Dumerest of Terra.  Pellucidar.  LotR.    Have them all and many others as well.

Have you read E E Doc Smith? Edmond Hamilton? Leigh Brackett? Edmund Cooper? Manley Wade Wellman? John Campbell? Clifford Simak?  A E Van Vogh?  Edgar Rice Burroughs? Classic authors that forged our genre! I've read them all...

Fantasy? Horror? Humor? SF? Mystery?  Yep, I've even read my mom's Phyllis A Whitney classics.

Some titles that've stuck in mind and that I have re-read over and over are:

Time Enough for Love -- Robert A. Heinlein
Monument -- Lloyd Biggle Jr.
Treason -- Orson Scott Card
The Man Who Folded Himself -- David Gerrold
Healer -- F Paul Wilson
The Zero Stone -- Andre Norton
Little Fuzzy -- H. Beam. Piper

Where is this post going?  Nowhere.  Just bored doing laundry and refreshing my Diablo 2 characters.

Hope you're having more excitement this fine holiday morning.

Some years back I set a project on myself to get together the descriptions of how the genre breaks down.  I worked up Fantasy and SF ok, but was working on Horror and Mystery when I stopped.  So, I ask for info: what are the sub categories for these?
